Why So Many People are Getting Physical Therapy WITHOUT Using Their Insurance

When I created Momentum Physical Therapy, I decided to do something drastically different from the other physical therapy clinics out there.

Over my past 9 years as a physical therapist, I have seen significant (and frequent) changes in health insurance benefits. Premiums, co-pays, and co-insurance have continually increased while the coverage for medical treatments has continually decreased.

The required paperwork from insurance companies increased significantly creating a burden for both the physical therapist and the patient. And then, the insurance companies hoped the physical therapist or the patient made a mistake on their paperwork so they could deny services and payment.

It became clear that insurance companies often didn’t have your best interests in mind. This also meant that I ended up working for the insurance company and NOT for you, the patient.

So, when I began Momentum PT I decided to be out-of-network with insurance companies. This means that I am able to work for my clients, NOT their insurance companies. While this seems like a reasonable, normal, and effective thing to do, it’s rather uncommon in the medical world.

I’m able to see a client in my clinic within a day or so from the time they call. I can focus on solving their issues and help them reach their goals quickly – whether that means returning to skiing, playing with their kids, or sitting at their desk without discomfort.

Since you don’t have to worry about insurance requirements and limitations, I get to spend an hour with you at each visit. This means the results come more quickly and last longer as the quality of care is significantly better.

If you are surprised that someone like me is out-of-network with insurance companies, don’t worry, so are most people when they first hear it.

It’s surprising simply because people are accustomed to medical professionals accepting insurance and they’ve never had to think about the pros and cons of seeing a medical provider who is in- or out-of-network.

When I speak with people about what I offer versus the typical in-network alternative, many decide to work with me. It becomes clear that they value the personal attention, quality treatment and overall experience I provide.
