The Migraine Treatment Pie is one of my favorite resources to share with patients.
Each section of the pie represents an area we know to have the best effect on migraine management. The key to the pie is working on them together. With this approach, people with migraine have a greater chance of reducing migraine episodes and how severe they are.
At first glance, this might seem like a lot of things to tackle in your everyday life, but we can apply the rule of 1%.
If we're able to improve your nutrition 1%, your sleep 1%, your stress 1%, cumulatively that adds up and matters a lot.
But where to start? I always recommend tackling the lowest-hanging fruit in each individual's life.
For one person, that could look like finally making that PT appointment to find out if they're a good candidate for utilizing PT to manage migraine. Or it could look like committing to taking your dog for a walk on your lunch break to add more movement to the middle of the day. Or go to Costco to stock up on your favorite snacks so that it's easier to stay on top of your daily nutrition.
Start with the smallest, easiest thing.
